New pillows

Well, I had a burst of creativity this evening and made two pillows for our living room.

Yellow throw: clearance at Meijer last month
Tree fabric: The Ghastley Forest in Grey at Sew to Speak earlier this summer
Blue fabric: IKEA a few years ago

Much better than the ones that came with the sofa.

I used two pillow forms (purchased at IKEA) and made envelope-style cases for them.

This tutorial from V and Co. suggested I cut the fabric the same size as the pillows (no seam allowance), and I'm glad I did it that way. The case fits really well on the pillow.

I learned how to make the envelope-style back a few years ago using this tutorial from Cluck Cluck Sew. It's pretty simple and makes it super easy to change out the cases.

It felt good to create again! Hopefully I'll be sewing again soon.

Just like riding a bike?

I've been in sort of a crafting funk the past few weeks.

It started when I tried making these awesome chevron pillows for our living room. I cut the fabric wrong and the angles didn't match. So now I have a pile of poorly cut striped fabric that I don't know what to do with.

Then, last week, we updated our bedding:

I love the fresh new look (Katie Brown, on clearance at Meijer), but I'm hoping some new pillows will break up the color up a bit.

I purchased extra pillow cases (also on clearance) to make my own pillows, but so far I've only taken out the seams of one pillow case. Hmph.

Maybe it's pillows. Maybe it's me.

But I plan to jump back on the proverbial bike this weekend.

We'll see how it goes.

New opportunity

Welcome back! I've made some updates, and even though I haven't blogged in well over a year, I have been busy in the crafting world - and otherwise.

My Etsy shop is doing fairly well, when I have items in it. I introduced and sold out of a new product: envelope system wallets. (More to come soon!)

And now I have my first-ever wholesale opportunity!

I will be making 25 coffee cuffs for the new Sixty-Six Coffee Lounge in Charlotte Hall, Maryland, in the next few days. They are planning to open the first week in August, and my cuffs will be there!

I'm really excited about it! And I'm excited to see how wholesaling goes.

Hopefully I will continue blogging on a more consistent basis. I just have to remind myself that it doesn't have to be perfect, and it doesn't have to be all or nothing.

See you soon.
